Kuemper is 8-1-0 with two shutouts in his past nine starts.
"He's been unbelievable. He makes it look so easy, he's always so calm," Chychrun said. "He's a calming presence back there and he's going to make the saves he should make. That's nice to rely on."
Keller gave Arizona a 1-0 lead at 10:16 of the first period, skating in with Christian Dvorak on a 2-on-1 and finishing with a one-timer from the right circle. Dvorak's assist was his first point in five games this season.
"[Keller] wasn't happy (about scoring one goal in previous 18 games)," Tocchet said. "He wanted to watch video yesterday, so we watched video and had a good talk. He played a determined game, and that's a big goal."
Shortly after the Coyotes killed off a Flames power play, Chychrun made it 2-0 with a shot from the point at 2:49 of the third period while Smith was getting back up in the crease after making the initial save on Dvorak. Flames coach Bill Peters challenged for goaltender interference, but the call was upheld after a video review.
"It's hard to score, it's hard to win this time of the year and a lot of teams are right there," Smith said. "[The Coyotes] work super hard, they're structured really well and they play their system to a `T.'"
Smith stopped Vinnie Hinostroza on a penalty shot at 12:34 of the third.
Calgary has scored two goals or fewer in seven of its past eight games, and Arizona has allowed two goals or fewer in six of its past eight games.
"It's always tough when you don't score, as a player but as a team, too," Flames center Mikael Backlund said. "The whole team is kind of struggling. It's a lot easier when it's just a couple of guys."
