Joseph-Volkov

TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed forwards Mathieu Joseph to a two-year, one-way contract worth $737,500 AAV and Alex Volkov to a one-year, one-way contract worth $700,000 AAV, vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois announced today.

Joseph, 23, played in 37 games with the Lightning during the 2019-20 regular season, posting four goals and seven points to go along with 16 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound forward also appeared in 29 games with the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL last season, collecting six goals and 15 points.

The Laval, Quebec native has skated in 107 career NHL games, all with the Lightning over the past two seasons, notching 17 goals and 33 points. During the 2018-19 season, Joseph set career highs for games played (70), goals (13), assists (13) and points (26). He ranked tied for eighth among all NHL rookies for goals.
The Lightning drafted Joseph in the fourth round, 120th overall, at the 2015 NHL Draft.
Volkov, 23, played in nine games with the Lightning during the 2019-20 regular season, recording one assist and six penalty minutes. He made his NHL debut on October 30, 2019 against the New Jersey Devils and registered his first point with an assist on January 14 versus the Los Angeles Kings. The Moscow, Russia native made his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Dallas Stars.

Volkov finds the back of the net

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound forward also appeared in 46 games with the Syracuse Crunch during the 2019-20 season, collecting nine goals and 30 points. Volkov has played in 195 career AHL games over three seasons, recording 55 goals and 123 points.
Volkov was originally drafted by the Lightning in the second round, 48th overall, at the 2017 NHL Draft.
