The Lightning came out flat following a four-day layoff between games and suffered 6-3 defeat to Calgary on Thursday at AMALIE Arena.
It was a 1-1 game after 20 minutes, but the Flames opened things up with three goals in 3:14 in the second period and held the Bolts at bay for the remainder of the night.
Conor Sheary, Anthony Cirelli and Michael Eyssimont scored goals for the Lightning.
Andrei Vasilevskiy got the start in net and made 17 saves.
The Bolts continue the homestand on Saturday against Philadelphia.

Yegor Sharangovich intercepted the puck behind the Lightning net and set up Dryden Hunt in front for the game-opening goal midway through the first period.

Tampa Bay tied it up less than five minutes later on Conor Sheary’s second goal of the season. Nick Paul sent a backhand feed toward Sheary at the side of the net and he tapped it past Jacob Markstrom to draw the Bolts level.

6:11 Yegor Sharangovich (24) – Jonathan Huberdeau, MacKenzie Weegar
With his back turned to the play at the bottom of the left circle, Jonathan Huberdeau fired a backhand pass that slipped through Victor Hedman and found Yegor Sharangovich on the near side. Sharangovich beat Andrei Vasilevskiy from a sharp angle to put the Flames back in front.

8:34 Yegor Sharangovich (25) – Matt Coronato
Just over two minutes later, Sharangovich struck for his second goal of the period. Sharangovich set up in the high slot and beat Vasilevskiy with a heavy one-timer off a set up from Matt Coronato.

Calgary extended their lead to three in short order. Andrei Kuzmenko tried to cut across the face of goal but went down and lost the puck. Jakob Pelletier quickly fired the loose puck home, but the Lightning challenged, arguing that contact had been made with Vasilevskiy. The play was reviewed, but it was determined to be a good goal.

Just as an abbreviated Lightning power play expired, Anthony Cirelli scored to trim the deficit to two. Steven Stamkos threw the puck toward the front of the net, and Cirelli was stationed at the far post to jam it over the line.

6:04 Blake Coleman (26) – Yegor Sharangovich, Jonathan Huberdeau
The Bolts turned the puck over inside their own blue line and Calgary made them pay. Sharangovich’s shot from the right point was tipped past Vasilevskiy by Blake Coleman.

As they so often do, the Lightning opted for an early pull of Vasilevskiy, but Andrew Mangiapane quickly found the empty net to extend the Flames’ lead to four.

Michael Eyssimont rounded out the scoring, beating Markstrom on a one-timer with less than six minutes to play in regulation.
