TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa Electric and TECO Peoples Gas have committed to extending the Community Power Play program that kicked off on June 18 and ran for 91 days, supporting the same number of customers with utility bill pay assistance during this difficult time. By extending the program, the Lightning and TECO will cover the monthly utility bill of one customer for each of the games during the Stanley Cup Final, for a maximum potential of seven customers and seven games.

The Community Power Play program kicked off as part of the Lightning's 91 Strikes of Kindness platform and originally ran through September 16. During that time, the initiative covered the energy bills for 91 eligible customers across nine counties, including Hillsborough, Orange and Pinellas. Prior to the extension of the Community Power Play, the Lightning and TECO covered 73 Tampa Electric bills and 18 Peoples Gas bills.
To date, the greater TECO Share program has provided support to nearly 5,000 customers, an equivalent of $642,600 in utility bills covered. The platform, in partnership with the Salvation Army, is designed to aid customers who may be struggling to pay their bills during difficult times.
TECO Share program applications and contributions are still being accepted for those in need of assistance. For more information about the program, visit
