The tournament takes place on March 18 after the Islanders-Blue Jackets matinee at Barclays Center. The entry is a minimum donation of $2,000, with all proceeds going to pediatric cancer organizations of Lee's choosing. So far over $38,000 has been raised, with some fans have raised over $6,000 themselves.
"I saw Jam Kancer in the Kan run this event and I thought it would be great to incorporate what our focus is and what they had done before and combine our effort," Lee said. "I'm really excited, it's something I've never done before and just something we've been looking forward to help kids out and be supportive of them."
The tournament has 32 teams, each team made up of a fan partnered with an Islanders player or a celebrity. Teams play a round-robin with the division winners playing in a single-elimination tournament.
Raising money for pediatric cancer stems from the Islanders community work with kids in the past. The Islanders do annual holiday hospital visits to deliver gifts to kids and it's an experience that's struck a chord with Lee.
"My focus of pediatric cancer was just seeing these kids that I've met through the Islanders when we do our hospital visits or other events," Lee said. "Seeing how strong they are or the bravery they have to have to realize their dreams is something that I want to help support and help them find a cure and an answer."

The Islanders raise money for the Islanders Children's Foundation year-round with events like the team's annual golf outing, but Lee liked the accessibility of Kan Jam. The pre-requisite is being able to throw - or deflect - a Frisbee, have a big heart and be able to raise money for a great cause.
"I had played this game before in my backyard and back at school when you're hanging out, it's a simple game," Lee said. "We want to help kids] realize their dreams because we get to realize ours playing hockey."
