The New York Islanders announced today that Bryan Marshall has been named Director of Player Performance. In his role, Marshall will oversee all levels of the organization’s strength and conditioning program (National Hockey League, American Hockey League, and prospects).
As a part of bolstering the department, Andrew Kacsor has been named Strength and Conditioning Coach and will work alongside current Strength and Conditioning Coach, Joe Erdos.
"Bryan and Andrew are outstanding additions to our performance staff. Bryan's track record of developing elite athletes at every level of the player’s development process, combined with Andrew's training and approach to athlete development, gives us real depth in this department,” Islanders General Manager and Executive Vice President Mathieu Darche said. “Alongside Joe Erdos, they'll form a group we're confident will not only prepare our players to be strong and ready to compete over the course of a season but allow them to have great careers."
Marshall joins the Islanders with extensive experience working in the NHL and with numerous pro players. He is the Founder and Program Director of Milo Athletics, a high-performance training center based in Mississauga, Ontario, but reaches athletes all over North America where he has established himself as one of the most knowledgeable and sought-after performance coaches in the industry.
He spent 13 seasons with the Vancouver Canucks, most recently serving as the club's Director of Applied Sports Science. Over the course of his career, he has worked with elite athletes across several organizations, including the Canucks, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League. In addition to his work at the organizational level, Marshall has built a reputation as a trusted private performance resource for many of the NHL's top professionals.
Kacsor joins the Islanders after most recently serving as the Head Performance Coach at Muskoka Hockey. He led the program’s off-ice training and athlete performance systems. His approach blends strength and conditioning with movement science and mentorship — assisting players with their explosiveness, resilience, and consistency. Andrew’s built individualized programs that connected physical preparation with on-ice performance.
Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), a role he held since May 2020. He previously spent time as Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Kunlun Red Star Women's Hockey League club, helping guide the team to a league championship in his first season in 2019.
Earlier in his career, Kacsor worked with Paragenix Systems, delivering strength and conditioning services to amateur and professional athletes across the NHL, NBA, NFL, NCAA and OHL.
