The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they will honor the legendary Lou Nolan, who is serving his 50th year as public address announcer, with a special pregame celebration on Sat., Apr. 9 vs. Anaheim Ducks.

Nolan is an original Flyers employee, having started his career with the team as the press box assistant during their inaugural season in 1967-68. He officially became the team's public address announcer at the start of the 1972-73 season with his first game on Oct. 12, 1972, and is the longest serving person in that position in the National Hockey League.
During that time, Nolan has called over 2,000 combined regular season and Stanley Cup Playoff games, which include both Stanley Cup championship seasons at the Spectrum, and six additional Stanley Cup Final appearances.
He has also been the public address announcer of two NHL All-Star Games (1976 & 1992) and voiced numerous ceremonies and national events such as the 2012 Winter Classic, 2014 NCAA Frozen Four, 2019 Stadium Series and the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
Prior to the start of the 2021-22 season, Nolan was named one of six finalists to be considered for induction into the Flyers Hall of Fame.
Details of the pregame celebration will be announced at a later date.
