Different timezone, same result for the New Jersey Devils.
On the West Coast Tuesday night, the Devils did it again, putting together a 4-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks for a fourth consecutive victory. This marks the first time New Jersey has won four straight since winning four between Oct. 6-16, 2019.
This morning, Erik Haula talked about the club all pulling on the same rope in the same direction and that was evident again tonight.
It wasn't the perfect game, but they found a way to get it done.
"I think we are playing together, that's our big thing," Hischier said, "We are connected and that's what we want to be. We want to be a fast, connected team. If we play that way, we're going to give ourselves a chance to win hockey games."
It was once again an all-around effort with a Nico Hischier power play goal, a shorthanded goal by Dawson Mercer and two even-strength markers, one by Michael McLeod and the other from Yegor Sharangovich. Jack Hughes hit the empty net for his goal tonight. The Devils held off a late push from the Canucks in the waning minutes of the game, and despite giving up a second goal to the Canucks with less than three minutes to play, the Devils had built themselves a big enough lead to weather the storm.
It was a great start in the first of a three-game trip through Western Canada, with a 5-2 win in Vancouver.
