He signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Devils on Oct. 7, 2016 and played two more seasons in the OHL before joining Binghamton of the American Hockey League after his 2017-18 junior season ended and had one assist in six games.

McLeod made his NHL debut against the Washington Capitals on Nov. 30, 2018 and got his first point, an assist, at the New York Rangers on March 9, 2019.
On the international stage, McLeod represented Canada twice at the IIHF World Junior Championship; it finished second in 2017 and won the tournament in 2018.
McLeod's younger brother, Ryan, is a center in the Edmonton Oilers organization and was a second-round pick (No. 40) in 2018.
