The Canucks host the Calgary Flames in their second of three straight pre-season games at home. The Canucks went 1-3-0 in the season series versus the Flames in 2017.18.

They were led in scoring by Brock Boeser (2-1-3), Michael Del Zotto (0-3-3) and Daniel Sedin (0-3-3). The Canucks faced the Flames twice during the 2017.18 pre-season defeating Calgary 5-3 at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Sept. 20 and 3-1 on Sept. 28 at Rogers Arena.

Thatcher Demko will make his first pre-season start of the season, backed-up by Mike DiPietro. Demko will likely play the 1st and 2nd periods, while DiPietro finishes the game.

2017.18 PLAYER NOTES

Reid Boucher split the season between the Canucks (3-2-5 in 20 games) and Comets (25-21-46 in 45 games). His 25 goals set a new Utica Comets single-season record. Boucher represented the Comets at the 2018 AHL All-Star Game and he was also named Comets MVP at the end of season awards.
• Kole Lind set new career-highs in goals (39) and points (95) with the Kelowna Rockets. His 1.64 points per game ranked sixth in the WHL.
Adam Gaudette led the NCAA in scoring with 60 points (30-30-60) in 38 games with the Northeastern Huskies. He finished first in the NCAA in goals, points-per-game (1.58) and power-play points (27) and was awarded the 2018 Hobey Baker Award, awarded annually to the top NCAA men's ice hockey player.
Brandon Sutter finished his third season with Vancouver collecting 26 points (11-15- 26) in 61 games. He had a career high (4) shorthanded assists and ranked sixth in the NHL in short-handed face-off wins (110).
• Alex Edler finished his 12th season with Vancouver collecting 34 points (6-28-34) in 70 games. He finished third in the NHL in blocked shots with 203 and won the 2017.18 Babe Pratt Award as the Canucks best defencemen.
Erik Gudbranson finished his second season with Vancouver collecting 5 points (2-3-5) in 52 games. He tied a career high for hits in a single game (8) Nov. 4 vs. PIT. • Olli Juolevi registered 19 points (7-12-19) in 38 games with TPS Turku in Finland's top league.
• Thatcher Demko appeared in 46 games for the Comets posting a record of 25-13-7. His 25 wins set a Comets record for most in a single season. He represented the Comets at the 2018 AHL All-Star Game and made his NHL debut on March 31, helping the Canucks defeat the Blue Jackets 5-4 in OT.
