BROSSARD – The Canadiens hit the ice for their first practice following the conclusion of training camp at the CN Sports Complex on Monday.

The skate came a day after the Habs made some roster moves, assigning a trio of players to Laval and placing two more on waivers, and offered a look at what the lines and defense pairings might be on opening day.

Joe Veleno took part in the skate but did not feature in line drills.

The team will practice again on Tuesday before departing for Toronto. The Canadiens will face the Maple Leafs in their opening game of the season at Scotiabank Arena at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday night.
