Following Fowler: Behind the scenes at Blues Content Day

This week, the St. Louis Blues are reporting to training camp to re-acclimate themselves with on-ice practices and the intensity of the NHL regular season.

Before players take the ice on Thursday, they are made available to team media for Content Day, where player portraits, promotional content and social media content are captured for use throughout the year.

Digital Content interns Annie Tyrrell and Caleb Herrera shadowed Blues defenseman Cam Fowler inside Centene Community Ice Center, documenting what an NHL player experiences on Content Day.

FOWLER'S SCHEDULE

7:15 a.m. -  Cam arrives for his Content Day session and grabs his No. 17 jersey off the rack for his official NHL headshot. These photos are taken by team photographers inside a designated photo room.

7:16 - 7:30 a.m. - After taking his portraits, Cam goes to the locker room to change into his gear for a full-gear photo shoot (this includes gloves, stick and skates!)

Fun Fact: Cam says his uniform’s elbow pads are close to 15 years old and his shin pads are at least 10 years old! He tries not to swap those pieces of equipment out if he doesn’t have to. He also says he typically goes through 10 pairs of gloves each season. Does the new 84-game regular season impact that number?

7:30 a.m. - Cam returns to the photo room for his full gear shoot and poses at three different stations.

The photographers provide him with directions to get the best shots possible.

7:32 - 7:38 a.m. - Cam goes back to the locker room to change into his street clothes for his next Content Day station.

7:39 a.m. - While walking over to the next station in the Social Work Room, Cam answers some non-hockey related, rapid-fire questions prompted by Annie.

7:40 a.m. - Cam sits for a green screen Q&A where the media team records videos that will play in the arena during games and specific theme nights throughout the season.

Cam, before recording a video message for the Blues’ Fourth Wing Night on Oct. 22 against the Vegas Golden Knights, admits that he has not read the books. For fans who have, how would you pitch the fantasy romance series to him?

7:51 - 8:11 a.m. - Cam films episodes of the “Head-To-Head” video series with teammate Colton Parayko (No. 55), hosted by Blues in-game host and emcee Dre’Co (@dre_co). In each installment, two Blues teammates compete against each other in unique challenges.

8:12 - 8:18 a.m. - Cam enters his final Content Day station inside the 101 ESPN Sports Talk for St. Louis studio. He poses for photos and video, autographs pucks and records messages that will play over the air during radio broadcasts.

101 ESPN listeners will be able to compete against Cam in the “Beat the Blues” game segment, where participants have 15 seconds to name as many items as possible in a category. Try your luck throughout the season to see if you can best the Blues defenseman and score autographed gear or team merchandise.

8:19 a.m. - Before wrapping up his Content Day, Cam answers one last rapid-fire question from Annie…

Do you have a favorite hose setting?
I like the mist, kind of the cone so it covers a lot of area. That’s my favorite.

Cam and his teammates will return to Centene for training camp’s on-ice sessions on Thursday and Friday. Beginning at 10 a.m. on both days, all training camp practices are free and open to the public.

The Blues will begin their 2026-27 preseason schedule by hosting the Dallas Stars on Saturday at Enterprise Center. Limited tickets are still available online for purchase at Ticketmaster.com. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m.
