COLUMBUS, OHIO -The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned center Kevin Stenlund to the Cleveland Monsters, the club's American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Stenlund, 21, tallied seven goals and 15 assists for 22 points with 28 penalty minutes and a +4 plus/minus rating in 43 games with HV71 of the Swedish Hockey League this season. He set career highs for assists and points, tying for fourth and fifth on the club, respectively. In 2016-17, he collected 13-7-20, 16 penalty minutes and was +9 in 48 games and added 4-6-10, six penalty minutes and was +10 in 16 playoff contests to help the club capture the SHL Championship.

The Huddinge, Sweden native was selected by Columbus in the second round, 58th overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft. He signed a three-year entry level contract with the club on May 23, 2017. He has spent the past three-plus seasons with HV71 (SHL), registering 22-23-45 with 66 penalty minutes and an +4 plus/minus rating in 151 regular season games and adding 5-7-12, 10 penalty minutes and a +12 plus/minus rating in 24 postseason contests.
The 6-4, 210-pound pivot also collected 1-3-4 in three career games in the Allsvenskan (Sweden's Second Division) and 25-47-72 with 75 penalty minutes and +17 in 85 career games with HV71 J20 of the SuperElit (Juniors). In 2015-16, he posted 1-1-2 with 20 penalty minutes in 43 games with HV71 (SHL) and registered 5-19-24, 31 penalty minutes and a +11 plus/minus rating in 17 games with HV71 J20 (SuperElit).
