Team Stick Taps Anaheim Ducks

The Colorado Avalanche started its week with an optional skate ahead of the club's matchup against the Ottawa Senators. Martin Kaut, Nathan MacKinnon, and Bowen Byram were on the ice in red non-contact jerseys. Additionally, Pavel Francouz was taking pucks for the first time since suffering a lower-body injury during the preseason.
The squad has been adjusting to playing more games during the week as opposed to weeks prior with only four games in two weeks.

Starting off a week full of games, Colorado defeated Ottawa 7-5 on Monday. Cale Makar scored two goals in the matchup.
Tuesday the Avs practiced at Ball Arena in preparation for Wednesday's matchups against the Anaheim Ducks. During media availability head coach Jared Bednar mentioned that Bowen Byram, Martin Kaut, and Pavel Francouz would travel with the team to Dallas solely for practice but not to play in the game. Nathan MacKinnon will not travel with the team.

Wednesday the Avs had another optional morning skate ahead of the contest between them and the Ducks. Following the Avs 5-2 win over the Ducks, Jared Bednar was noted as the winningest coach in Avalanche history with 194 wins. Bednar passed Bob Hartley on the list.
Thursday the team took flight to Dallas for a one-off road trip. Colorado fell to Dallas 3-1 ending its six-game win streak.
The Avs did not have morning skate following its trip to Dallas due to its back-to-back games. They faced the Nashville Predators Saturday evening rounding out a week full of contests.
Saturday evening the Avs had a big win over the Predators with goals from Mikko Rantanen, Bowen Byram, Valeri Nichushkin and Tyson Jost. Rantanen landed the first hat trick of the season by the end of the contest.

Jack Johnson scratched for Saturday's lineup. Kiefer Sherwood was sent to the Colorado Eagles. After eight games for the Avs, Sherwood has tallied one assist and has taken seven shots on goal. Bowen Byram Returned to the lineup after missing six games due to concussion protocol.
INJURY UPDATE
Ryan Murray left the matchup against the Predators due to an upper-body injury Nathan MacKinnon continues to be out for three weeks due to a lower-body injury. J.T. Compher is out for a month due to an upper-body injury. Martin Kaut continues to be evaluated on a week-to-week basis, suffering an upper-body injury. Stefan Matteau remains out for weeks rehabbing a lower-body injury he suffered on Oct. 16. Pavel Francouz is operating on a week-to-week basis.
