Nathan MacKinnon practice training camp 2018 September 14

CENTENNIAL, Colo.--The Colorado Avalanche practiced at Family Sports Center for about half an hour on Thursday as the team prepares for its third back-to-back of the season.
The Avs host the Dallas Stars at Pepsi Center on Friday before traveling to Arizona to meet the Coyotes on Saturday. Colorado is 2-0-0 in the first contest of back-to-back series this year and 1-1-0 in the second. The Avalanche will play 12 of these sets overall this campaign after having 11 in 2018-19, going 5-3-3 in both the first and second games.

Missing from the on-ice session was defenseman Nikita Zadorov. The 6-foot-6, 235-pound rear guard has one goal and two assists in 11 outings this season and is questionable for Friday's outing.
"He got dinged up in last night's game so yeah we will just see how he feels tomorrow, and we will make our decision on the lineup after morning skate," head coach Jared Bednar said of Zadorov.
Colin Wilson (lower body) and Mikko Rantanen (lower body) were also absent from the session. Wilson hurt himself during Tuesday's practice while Rantanen has been out since Oct. 21, and neither will be an option for Bednar in the game against Dallas.
"He didn't skate again today, so he won't be a player for us tomorrow," Bednar said of Wilson. "He is day-to-day so we will just evaluate him and how he feels off the ice and put him through some workouts if we can and see where it goes.
"I don't have anything new on [Rantanen] either. Same thing as Wilson now, just seeing how he does in the training room and in the gym and what they can get him into and try to progress him and get him on the ice with the team."
Bednar also noted that the team will likely recall another forward from the American Hockey League's Colorado Eagles prior to its next road trip. After playing at the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday and the Avs visit the Stars on Tuesday in a rematch in Texas.
