A New Voice In Town
Utah Hockey Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Folta as its radio play-by-play announcer. With this role marking his NHL debut, Folta joins Utah Hockey Club from the Rockford IceHogs, the AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks, where he helped boost the team’s broadcast audience by 57% in his first full season. Prior to his time with the IceHogs, Folta was the play-by-play broadcaster for the Atlanta Gladiators (ECHL), where he was a finalist for the ECHL Broadcaster of the Year in 2021-22.
Fans can look forward to hearing Folta’s captivating voice as he brings the thrill of Utah Hockey Club’s debut season to the airwaves. Live radio coverage of every game this season will be broadcast on KSL Sports Zone (1280 AM/97.5 FM) and select games simulcast on KSL NewsRadio (1160 AM).
2024-25 Season Broadcast Talent
Utah Hockey Club’s dynamic broadcast team, announced earlier this month, will bring every moment of on- and off-ice action to fans, both through linear TV and streaming channels. Matt McConnell, the team’s play-by-play announcer, brings nearly three decades of NHL broadcasting experience. McConnell will be joined by Dominic Moore, who steps into his role after serving as an NHL analyst for NBC and ESPN. Nick Olczyk, formerly with the Seattle Kraken, will also serve as a team analyst, providing insights from the booth, between the benches, and in the studio.
The broadcast team will be complemented by Sarah Merrifield who joins as the club’s rinkside reporter after covering a variety of teams including the Dallas Stars for Bally Sports and Kim Becker, who will take on the role of studio host, bringing her experience from working with the Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos.
Additionally, Utah Hockey Club added Tyson Nash as a primary personality and analyst for UtahHC+, where he will contribute to UtahHC+ content and host alt-casts. He will also serve as a guest analyst during select pre- and post-game shows. The full Utah Hockey Club TV schedule can be found here.
