Free Agency Signing

OTTAWA – Ottawa Senators general manager and president of hockey operations Steve Staios announced today the club has signed forwards Samuel Blais, Philippe Daoust, Ryan Suzuki and Philip Tomasino, and defenseman Christian Kyrou to two-way contracts.

Blais, who celebrated his 30th birthday on June 17, has 10 seasons of experience in professional hockey. The highlight of his career was undoubtedly winning the Stanley Cup in 2019 with the St. Louis Blues. The left winger, a native of Montmagny, Quebec, has recorded 79 points in 278 regular-season games in the NHL. In 2025–26, he played for the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs organizations. He recorded three points in eight games with the Maple Leafs and five points in 13 games with the Canadiens. He also tallied 38 points in 35 games with the Laval Rocket in the AHL. He signed a two-year contract with the Senators organization.

The following four players have signed one-year contracts.

At 24, Daoust has just had his most productive season as a professional. A sixth-round pick (158th overall) by Ottawa in the 2020 NHL Draft, he recorded 50 points in 63 games with the Belleville Senators. He was the third-leading scorer on the B-Sens.

Suzuki, 25, has just completed a very successful season. The center, a native of London, Ontario, was the Chicago Wolves’ leading scorer during the Calder Cup playoffs. His 18 points in 21 games helped the Wolves reach the finals. A first-round pick (28th overall) of the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2019 NHL Draft, he played in the AHL All-Star Classic in 2025.

Tomasino, 24, is from Mississauga, Ontario. A first-round pick (24th overall) by the Nashville Predators in the 2019 NHL Draft, he has played 218 NHL games over the past five seasons. He split the 2025–26 season between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers organizations. He recorded one point in nine NHL games and 41 points in 52 AHL games.

A right-handed defenseman, Kyrou was a second-round pick (50th overall) by the Dallas Stars in the 2022 NHL Draft. He has played exclusively in the American Hockey League since the start of his professional career in 2023. He just had his most productive season yet, recording 10 goals and 24 assists for 34 points in 59 games.
