A closer look at the Senators’ matchups with Canadian opponents in 2026–27

Last season, the Ottawa Senators cruised through their schedule north of the border, posting a 10-2-4 record against the league's six other Canadian franchises. 

They'll look to carry that success into 2026-27 as they once again face each of those clubs multiple times, beginning with a season-opening trip to Toronto on Oct. 3 and wrapping up with a home finale against Montreal on April 10.

Toronto Maple Leafs

The Senators have the upper hand on their provincial rivals all-time, sporting a 79-56-3-13 record heading into the 2026–27 season. At home, they’ve been even more successful, winning 43 of 75 games and losing just 23 in regulation.

Ottawa will open their season in Toronto on Oct. 3 and head there again on March 27. They’ll welcome the Leafs to Canadian Tire Centre on Wednesday, Jan. 20 and Saturday, Feb. 13. The Sens won both meetings at Canadian Tire Centre against the Leafs last season.

Montreal Canadiens

The Senators have played the Canadiens the most out of any opponent in the NHL — 175 times in total since 1992–93. Ottawa holds a record of 83-74-5-13 in those games. Just like the Leafs, that record is even better at home, with the Sens winning 47 of 87 meetings and losing just 33 in regulation.

Ottawa will have to wait until March to welcome the Habs to Canadian Tire Centre. They’ll then play them three times in under a month: Saturday, March 13 at home, Wednesday, March 24 on the road, and Saturday, April 10 at home.

Wednesday, March 24 at Montreal, 7:30 p.m.

Winnipeg Jets

The Senators and Jets have faced off 85 times since the Jets entered the league as the Atlanta Thrashers back in 1999. The Sens sport a 44-30-2-9 record in those games.

Ottawa will travel west to Winnipeg on Tuesday, Nov. 17, the second game of a two-game road trip that begins in Pittsburgh. They’ll host the Jets on Thursday, Jan. 14.

Calgary Flames

The Sens and Flames have met 64 times, and the Sens hold a 34-26-1-12 record in those meetings. At home, they’ve won 17 of 37 games while losing just 13 in regulation.

Ottawa will welcome Calgary to Canadian Tire Centre on Monday, Nov. 23 and visit Calgary on Sunday, Feb. 21. They’ll look to continue their four-game win streak against the Flames, who haven’t come away with a win in their visits to Ottawa since November 2021. 

Monday, Nov. 23 vs. Calgary, 7:30 p.m.

Sunday, Feb. 21 at Calgary, 8 p.m.

Edmonton Oilers

The Senators have struggled against the Oilers historically, holding a record of 24-32-4-3 through 63 meetings all-time. At home, they’ve won 10 out of 30 games while losing 16 in regulation.

The Oilers will head to Canadian Tire Centre on Saturday, Dec. 12. The Senators will stop in Edmonton on Tuesday, Feb. 23, the final game of a five-game road trip for the Sens that begins in Minnesota more than a week earlier. Connor McDavid and the Oilers prevailed in overtime both times the teams met last season.

Tuesday, Feb. 23 at Edmonton, 8:30 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 12 vs. Edmonton, 7 p.m.

Vancouver Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks have also had the upper hand on the Senators, who hold a 25-30-2-7 record all-time in 64 games. At home, they’ve won 13 and lost 13 in regulation over 31 games.

The Senators will stop in Vancouver as part of the same road trip they play Calgary and Edmonton. On Sunday, March 14, Vancouver will stop in Ottawa for a Sunday evening meeting, which will be the second game of a back-to-back for both teams. Ottawa will look to continue a three-game win streak against the Canucks.

Thursday, Feb. 18 at Vancouver, 10 p.m.

Sunday, March 14 vs. Vancouver, 5 p.m.
