Florida Panthers Community Champions

Moss Construction

Under the leadership of Florida Panthers Ownership Vincent J. Viola and Douglas A. Cifu, Community outreach and involvement are part of the makeup of the Florida Panthers foundation and organization. Launched prior to the 2016-17 Season, the Community Champions program presented by MOSS & Associates, LLC and MOSS Foundation commits $5 Million over five years to charitable organizations throughout South Florida.

Several of these organizations have already used their grants to make a difference in the community:

Special Compass: Special Compass creates life-changing experiences for differently-abled children by promoting inclusion in the community using athletic events, and by building opportunities for independent living. Funds from the grant were used to purchase (7) Adaptive Star Axiom Racer Conversion wheelchairs that will be used during the endurance-type athletic events that members can participate in.

Rocky Mountain Dawgs Project: Service Dogs for Veterans strives to connect veterans suffering from PTSD, TBI, and other issues connected to their honorable service to our country with the highest caliber of puppies to be trained, along with the veteran, to restore the quality of life that the veteran has earned through their service to our nation. Funds received from the Florida Panthers Foundation were directly used to procure and train a Service Dog for Kathleen Greer, a veteran in South Florida. This Service Dog will help to positively impact Kathleen through specialized training, helping to restore a high quality of life to her and her family.

Endless Possibilities for the Disabled: This organization provides adapted sports and recreation for persons with physical disabilities. Their goal is to improve the physical and emotional health and overall quality of life of persons with physical disabilities by providing inclusive recreation. This grant will be used to fund the Tiger Sharks sled hockey program which will help pay for ice time for practices, scrimmage games against other Florida sled hockey teams, clinics to teach and introduce sled hockey to new members, and a weekend tournament.

Florida Wildlife Cooridor: The Florida Wildlife Corridor organization champions the public and partner support needed to permanently connect, protect and restore the Florida Wildlife Corridor - a statewide network of lands and waters that supports wildlife and people. These funds will help tell the story of the Florida panther to local and global audiences to inspire the land protection needed to revive the species.

The Florida Panthers Foundation focuses on building the game of hockey for children, supporting health and education initiatives for children, advocating for and supporting veterans' issues and raising awareness about the endangered Florida panther.
