EDMONTON, AB – You have to be good to get lucky.
Leon Draisaitl scored off a fortunate bounce with 2:27 left in regulation, while goalie Devon Levi was terrific after making 19 saves in his home debut for the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place on Saturday in a 3-1 victory over the Seattle Kraken.
Owen Michaels scored his second-career goal in as many games, while Connor McDavid contributed a goal & an assist, including the empty-netter to seal the victory.
McDavid recorded the primary helper on Draisaitl's decisive tally when a rimmed puck from Ryan Shea struck his leg along the boards, redirecting it to the German in front of goal to put the game-winner under the right arm of Philipp Grubauer in the final three minutes.
"I think we had some looks early on," Draisaitl said. "They defended well for the most part, and those are games where you just kind of have to stick with it and eventually, you'll find a look at some point. Obviously, it worked out."
Levi was terrific in his home debut, stopping 19 of 20 shots for the win, including a game-defining glove save on Jordan Eberle in the third period that nearly counted after officials needed a review to confirm whether the puck crossed the goal line.
"After some of the bounces last game, I was hoping we'd get one, and it happened to not go in," Levi said. "I can't tell you how I did it. It was kind of instinctive."
The Oilers now hit the road for three games for their first extended road trip of the season, which begins on Wednesday night against the Anaheim Ducks.
