The Future of the Game

by Cam Tait / OilCountryChampionship.com

Ethan Lockwood was being a kid. That's all. Because, when you're 10 years old playing street hockey and the ball rolls over the sidewalk, bouncing like never before and ends up under a tree there's only one thing to do: go get it. No wasting time when it comes to street hockey.

Cam Tait chats with Garth Brooks about his participation in Habitat for Humanity and his appreciation of Edmonton

by Cam Tait / EdmontonOilers.com

When Garth Brooks went through the breakfast line this week in south east Edmonton scooping scrambled eggs, spearing sausages and sprinkling hash browns on his plate, one of his hit songs played through his head.

And the tune gained more volume - and, more importantly, more meaning - as the morning rolled into a day, and the days turned into half a week at the Carter Work Project for Habitat for Humanity.

Carter Work Project, Day 4

by Cam Tait / EdmontonOilers.com

It's not often Oilers Entertainment Group (OEG) CEO Bob Nicholson is seen in an orange and white T-shirt and a pair of jeans. But there he was Thursday morning, looking like a veteran carpenter rather than the seasoned hockey executive he is.

Dave Semenko: The Gentle Giant

Cam Tait reflects on Dave Semenko's role as an integral teammate, a revered opponent and a great friend

by Cam Tait / EdmontonOilers.com

It seemed so surreal last Thursday, minutes before 10:30 AM.

I was sitting on the right side in the back row of blue chairs in the Oilers Hockey Hall of Fame Room in Rogers Place. It was precisely the same spot Dave Semenko stood in his new role as Oilers Ambassador before Edmonton Oilers home games, proudly wearing his black and white zipped up shirt with the Oilers Entertainment Group (OEG) logo, gently rocking back and forth on his feet, shaking the hands of guests entering the room.

Walking with Wayne.

Caddying for Glen Sather.

But time is running out to bid.

The man behind the mic

Cam Tait writes about Oilers anthem singer Robert Clark

by Cam Tait / EdmontonOilers.com

It may have been a little out of his wheel house, but Robert Clark certainly did not show it. Rather than being dressed in a tuxedo or opera wardrobe - a clown's costume, to be exact - there Robert was: in a bright orange Edmonton Oilers jersey and jeans among Oilers fans in the Rogers Place stands singing O Canada before the first Oilers playoff game of 2017.

Being together never gets old

Cam Tait writes about the biggest rumpus room in Edmonton - Rogers Place

by Cam Tait / EdmontonOilers.com

Every now and then, going out on a limb and making a proclamation can be daring, perhaps even presumptuous and unfounded.

Although, I think it's safe to proudly state the following:

ICE District has the largest rumpus room in Oil Country.
