Oilers Hockey School

The Edmonton Oilers are proud to provide young hockey players with the opportunity to attend Oilers Hockey School to continue their skill development in a positive, fun-filled environment.

Young players between the ages of 5 through 15 can register for Oilers Hockey School and the chance to experience high calibre training. Instructors include former NHL and WHL talent with special guest appearances from Oilers players, alumni and coaching staff.

The Edmonton Oilers are pleased to partner with Okanagan Hockey Camps to deliver this top quality program. The Oilers Hockey School is focused on providing leading edge, top quality hockey instruction in a positive and supportive environment. As well as providing comprehensive on-ice/off-ice training, the Oilers Hockey School will provide players with the newest training techniques.

Program Overview


Oilers Hockey School has developed three specific streams of hockey training: Skill Development, Specialty Camps and Goalie Camps.

Each stream offers:

  • Fully supervised full day camps (Learn to Play program half day)
  • 2.5 hours of ice daily - Monday - Friday
  • 7:1 Player to Instructor ratio
  • Off-ice puck skills training
  • Hockey specific dry land training
  • End of session game
  • Written evaluation

Hockey Instructional Camps


HALF-DAY PROGRAMS:
 

Learn to Play
This camp is open to players born between 2012 and 2014. This half-day camp will teach the basic fundamentals of the game in a fun, structured environment. The Learn to Play Camp is offered in the AM and PM.

FULL-DAY PROGRAMS:

Skills Development Camp Skaters
Open to players born 2009-2012. You've mastered the basics. Are you ready to make some big strides in your game? The Development camp for players focuses on the fundamentals of individual skill development both on and off the ice.

Skills Development Camp for Goalies
These camps are operated in conjunction with the same age group skater programs. There will be a dedicated goalie instructor with the group on each ice session

SPECIALITY PROGRAMS:

Defence Camp
Open to players born 2004-2008. Their speedy winger is breaking towards the wall. Your gap is good. You've matched his pace. But can you stop him? The focus of the Defence Camp, both on and off the ice, is to teach players the skills and tactics required to become a better defenceman.

Battle and Compete Camp
Open to players born 2003-2007. The puck goes into the corner and you chase it. You've got the will - but do you have the skill? Our Battle and Compete Camp will push players to compete at a higher level and to become more comfortable with body contact and physically engaging drills.

Shooter and Scorers Camp
Open to players born 2004-2008. You've won the battle, the puck is on your stick, and the goalie moves out to challenge. What next? The Shooters & Scorers Camp is designed for players of all levels that are looking to improve their dangling and sniping skills in a fast paced, positive and fun camp environment.

Combo Camps
Open to players born 2007-2010. These combination camps offer 2 unique camps in one. Power skating plus a choice of Battle and Compete skills or Shooting and Scoring skills. Each camp offers daily Power Skating session to improve technique and mechanics of skating to increase speed and power. Power/Battle combo offers daily sessions on puck protection, one on one battles and small area games. Power/Shooting combo offers daily sessions on improving shooting skills along with scoring techniques. 

Specialized Goalie Only Camp
Open to goalies born between 2002-2008. Maximum 16 goalies per group with a 4:1 goalie to instructor ratio. This is a goalie only camp that provides position specific instruction in a small group setting.
