The Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club is dedicated to serving the community through a variety of community events and initiatives. In addition to our current programming, the Oilers are very active in supporting various fundraising efforts such as charitable organizations, minor hockey and ringette associations, and other community groups.
It's all smiles in Oil Country during annual Oilers hospital visits when the entire team spends the day visiting numerous Edmonton-area hospitals and rehabilitation centres. Year-after-year, the players help spread joy and fun, touching the lives of those they meet. It's a special opportunity for each player to engage with truly inspiring people in-and-around Edmonton.
Read In Week, a city-wide initiative, has been promoting literacy since 1990. The Oilers proudly share the joy of reading with students in the greater Edmonton area. This year, it was back to school for four Oilers players as Drake Caggiula, Matt Benning, Jujhar Khaira and Kailer Yamamoto took to the classroom to share the importance of literacy.
The Oilers, in partnership with the NHL and NHLPA, are proud representatives of Future Goals - Hockey Scholar. This program is a unique science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) online course for students in grades 5-7. The course leverages the game of hockey as a learning vehicle to energize students in these critical topics and is available to schools at no cost.
The concept is simple; after each student (Grades 1-6) completes their assigned reading minimum within a month's time, teachers may enter the class into a draw to receive complimentary hockey tickets donated by local businesses.
Saturday, June 24, 2017 was the first ever Locker Room Sale at Rogers Place. Featured items included game-used and new equipment, Inaugural Season items, as well as some special appearances from the Oilers and Oil Kings.
