Consider "The Zegras" assist officially imitated and duplicated.

Detroit Red Wings prospect Cross Hanas, a forward for Portland of the Western Hockey League, pulled off an amazing assist, flipping the puck over the back of the net for teammate James Stefan to bat across the goal line in a 4-1 win against Spokane on Monday.

It was a clear imitation of the play by Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras, who on Dec. 7 seeimingly invented the very style of pass to Sonny Milano for a goal in a game against the Buffalo Sabres.
Zegras' pass
burned up social media
and drew awe from teammates and opponents alike. And now it's spawned a copycat.
The WHL declared it officially "a thing" on Twitter.

The Ducks, of course, shared the highlight with some eyball emojis.

Like Zegras, Hanas had plenty of time to set up behind the net. And like Milano, when Stefan got the chance to complete the amazing play, he buried it.
The Winterhawks posted a brief postgame interview with Hanas.

"It's something that has come about here in recent weeks with Zegras doing it. Every hockey player sees that stuff and is like 'oh my gosh that was unreal,'" Hanas said. "You know what, that's all about hockey. You kind of take risks and see what happens. I picked it up and I took the risk and Stef thankfully batted it (in) or else it would have looked a little stupid. But yea, it was awesome that he got that in and we got that goal together.
"We haven't really stopped thinking about it or smiling for about 45 minutes now. It was a surreal moment honestly."
