Hockey Day in America will be celebrated with an NBC Sports tripleheader on Sunday.

The New York Rangers visit the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena (12:30 p.m. ET; NBC, SN, TVAS) followed by the St. Louis Blues taking on the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center (3 p.m. ET; NBC, SN). Coverage concludes when the Philadelphia Flyers visit the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena (6 p.m. ET; NBCSN, NHL.TV).
Pregame coverage on NBC starts at 12 p.m. ET when "NHL Live" broadcasts on site from Hockeytown at The Rink at Campus Martius Park in downtown Detroit. Liam McHugh and Kathryn Tappen will anchor pregame, intermission and postgame coverage, with Tappen providing reports and interviews from the women's game between the United States and Canada at Little Caesars Arena before the Flyers face the Red Wings.
NBC Sports will also spotlight the impact hockey has had in the United States with a collection of stories. One profiles a family that could be the first from the United States with three players taken in the first round of the NHL Draft. Defenseman Quinn Hughes is the No. 7 pick of the Vancouver Canucks in the 2018 NHL Draft. Center Jack Hughes is Quinn's younger brother and the projected No. 1 pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. Youngest brother Luke Hughes is an up-and-coming defenseman for the Little Caesars AAA U-15 team.
Another feature examines the relationship between Rangers coach David Quinn and Penguins coach Mike Sullivan from their time as teammates at Boston University. Sullivan, a two-time Stanley Cup winner with Pittsburgh, once shared advice with Quinn that helped him eventually
accept the position in New York
.
