Scheifele was hoping Selanne could lend some of that scoring touch to the present-day Jets, including Laine, the biggest Finnish NHL prospect since Selanne, for the 2016 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic on Sunday.
Selanne, who retired in 2014 after scoring 684 goals in 21 NHL seasons with the Jets, Anaheim Ducks, San Jose Sharks and Colorado Avalanche, joked to a Finnish reporter Friday that he'd need two weeks to train to return to the NHL.
