Erik Karlsson

It's not 2018 Honda NHL All-Star Weekend. It's 2018 Honda NHL All-St-ARRRRR Weekend.
Yes, as the league's all-stars arrived at Amalie Arena in Tampa just before the 2018 GIECO All-Star Skills Competition, some of them decided to
pay homage to Gasparilla
.

What is Gasparilla, you ask?
Why it's the largest pirate themed parade in the United States and the third largest parade of any kind.
Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson took it very seriously.

"It's fun. It's always been something that I wanted to do," Karlsson said. "My wife always dresses me like a woman during Halloween, so this was my big chance and we timed it well with the Gasparilla too and that was the inspiration for the whole thing. I thought it would be a fun thing to do on a day like this."
He even wore the buccaneer lid out on the ice for a little bit.

Chatting with fellow all-star Henrik Lundqvist, Karlsson was still rocking the hat.

Before putting on his jersey, Karlsson actually was in full garb, along with Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman.
"Hedman ordered them for us on Amazon, so they got here fairly quickly. I think we decided on Wednesday night, we were just talking late at night and we came up with a quick idea and we followed through with it." Karlsson said. "I have (heard of Gasparilla before). I've never been down here during it. This was the first time I've seen all the people in the parade and everything. It was pretty cool. So I did know what it was before and I like pirates for some reason. Maybe I was a pirate in my previous life."

Buffalo Sabres forward Jack Eichel walked the plank in a presser, letting out his inner pirate.

Not bad.
And how about Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand and this treasure of an under-sized pirate hat?

Who knew so many of the NHL's best would also make good pirates?
