For two players on the ice, Friday was a real blast from the past.

New York Rangers defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk and Columbus Blue Jackets forward Cam Atkinson were sharing a rink again, but this time they were opponents.

During the television broadcast, a picture of a young Atkinson was shown wearing full Rangers gear. It was his Halloween costume one year.

Just after that, a youth hockey team photo was shown. It was the Connecticut Yankees, coached by Tom Atkinson, Cam's father, and featuring Cam and Kevin Shattenkirk on the roster.

Atkinson is from Riverside, Conn., while Shattenkirk, who signed with his hometown team this offseason, hails from New Rochelle, N.Y.
