Charles Lavall has battled cancer for years, so a little thing like a live television interview isn't going to scare him.

The devoted St. Louis Blues fan took his shot during an in-game interview and proposed to his girlfriend, Kathryn Jungk, on air. The result was unforgettable.

Lavall was at the game with
"3 Little Birds 4 Life,"
a volunteer organization that helps grant wishes for young adult cancer patients, wanted to propose. So why not during a Blues game?
"It's indescribable," Laval told NHL.com after a 4-3 Blues win against the New York Rangers on Saturday. "The gratitude I owe to the foundation 3 Little Birds 4 Life, to the people with the Blues, the entire organization... There is no thank you I could give to everyone involved that would be big enough to describe how I feel."
The 29-year-old lifelong hockey fan is still in his bout with a rare blood disease he was diagnosed with in 2015. He is He lost his mother to cancer in 2007.
For the engagement setup, Lavall was interviewed by Blues radio announcer and former forward Kelly Chase, who was in on the surprise. After some quick chatter, Chase gave the man his opportunity. Naturally, there were some nerves, [live television and life-changing decisions will do that] but the moment went off as planned.
Jungk, for her part in the moment, appeared shocked.
"I somehow kept tonight a secret from her," Laval said. "I just remember hugging her and saying I loved her... She's been my rock, through all of this."
"I think the first thing out of her mouth was 'why did you tell me I was going to be on TV!'" Laval joked.
The proposal was taped and later played on the scoreboard during second intermission. It will also be shown at 3 Little Birds 4 Life's next event at River City Casino in St. Louis.
The couple's family and some friends were also in attendance, as 3 Little Birds 4 Life helped secure over 20 tickets to the game for the special night.
