ST. LOUIS -- The Arizona Coyotes ended a 12-game losing streak against the St. Louis Blues with a 5-2 win at Scottrade Center on Saturday.

Christian Dvorak scored twice during a four-goal first period, and Antti Raanta made 25 saves for Arizona (11-28-9), which ended a five-game losing streak with a season-high 44 shots on goal.
"We haven't been playing badly, but we haven't had much to show for it," Dvorak said. "I thought we outworked them early and got the result we wanted in a tough barn."

Arizona had not defeated St. Louis since Nov. 12, 2013, 3-2 in overtime, and its prior regulation win was 4-1 on April 6, 2012, a span of 16 games.
Brayden Schenn and Alexander Steen scored power-play goals for St. Louis (28-18-3), which opened a four-game homestand after winning two straight on the road.
The Blues were outshot 23-7 in the first period.
"There's no explanation for it," Yeo said. "To be perfectly honest, there's no explanation for it.
"It's pretty simple. You look at our (Central) Division and you look at what's going on around the League and you'd think that you would come to the rink and you can control your attitude and you can control your work ethic. You think the desperation would be there."

The Blues pulled goaltender Carter Hutton after three goals on 12 shots. He was 5-0-1 with a 1.78 goals-against average and .935 save percentage in his prior six starts.
"We feel like we let him down," Blues captain Alex Pietrangelo said. "We let Jake [Allen] down. Those guys have been playing their [tails] off. [Hutton] has won us some hockey games the last couple weeks. If you do that to him, it's not fair. He works too hard to put him that position."
Zac Rinaldo gave Arizona a 1-0 lead 1:53 into the first, Dvorak scored at 4:02 and 7:06 to make it 3-0, and Brendan Perlini scored at 13:15 against Allen to make it 4-0.
"That fast start, that's the plan going into every game, and I felt like we went out and did what we had to right from the start," Coyotes forward Christian Fischer said.
Fischer's power-play goal at 4:33 of the second period gave Arizona a 5-0 lead.
Schenn scored at 9:27 of the second to make it 5-1, and Steen made it 5-2 at 9:44 of the third period.

They said it

"We have been playing good hockey lately. It's been three or four overtime or shootout losses in a row. We're still getting points, but when you lose, you lose. We tried to play the same way, and finally we opened the scoring sheet up. We got lots of goals in the first period, lots of good things happened." -- Coyotes goalie Antti Raanta
"This is embarrassing. We can't play like this, especially on the homestand and especially for our goalies, who actually do a lot of good stuff for us this year like always. We need to figure [it] out ... we can't give up [a] 4-0 lead." -- Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko
"A lot of guys contributed. The [defensemen], [Raanta], and obviously the four lines all contributed, and that's what we have to do most nights if we're going to compete. We're starting to find some traction here the last seven, eight games." -- Coyotes coach Rick Tocchet
"It's that simple. They outworked us. They had more urgency in their game from the get-go and we got behind by four, and in this league, that's too tough a hill to climb back. I think our response was late, we should have had an earlier response. Disappointing." -- Blues forward Alexander Steen
