TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning honored Kelli Casto as the 13th Lightning Community Hero this season during the first period of tonight's game against the Chicago Blackhawks. Casto, who received a $50,000 donation from the Lightning Foundation and the Lightning Community Heroes program, presented by Jabil, will donate the money to Saving Our Seniors and Seniors in Service.

After facing personal challenges during her 20s, Casto became inspired to bring positive change to the world so she founded Saving Our Seniors, an organization that provides durable medical equipment to seniors in need. Since 2016, she has made it her mission to provide seniors with health care who are struggling.
During the pandemic, Casto also introduced a mobile pantry to deliver nutritious food to the low-income seniors she serves. The new service provided nearly 1,000 clients with meals each week during the pandemic. To date, Casto has impacted more than 5,000 seniors across Tampa Bay, helping them maintain their independence, personal safety and dignity.
Casto becomes the 424th Lightning Community Hero since Jeff and Penny Vinik introduced the Lightning Community Hero program in 2011-12 with a $10 million, five-season commitment to the Tampa Bay community. Through this evening's game, in total, the Lightning Foundation has granted $22.15 million to more than 750 different nonprofits in the Greater Tampa Bay area. During the summer of 2016, the Viniks announced that the community hero program will give away another $10 million over the next five seasons.
