"I think he's a guy that is very strong that can win puck battles and push off defenders," Erie coach Kris Knoblauch said when asked about Raddysh's style of play.
Raddysh is just one of five players on the Otters weighing over 200 pounds.
"He's always been very strong for his age," Knoblauch said. "As a 16 year old, he was much stronger than other 16 year olds, and, as an 18 year old, it's the same way. Conditioning has always been a strong part of his game. He works hard in the gym, but I think he also just has that build."
The hard work both on and off the ice has paid dividends for Raddysh as he currently leads the OHL in scoring with 39 points in 15 games. The 18 year old has notched a point in every game this season and recorded 11 multi-point games along the way.
"There's times when he's going into the corner and it doesn't look like he's going to win the puck," Knoblauch said. "He's been able to outmuscle those guys to get better positioning and get the puck to make a play."
When Raddysh wins the puck from the other team, there's a good chance it will end up in the back of the net. The Toronto native's great shot has him scoring at a goal-per-game rate with 15 goals in 15 games. Raddysh has failed to score a goal in just two games this season.
"Just the other night he had a slap shot up high and it really shook the goalie up," Knoblauch said. "We had to have a timeout because of how hard he can shoot the puck. I think skills like that are always nice."
Raddysh's versatility on the ice has him playing in all situations for the Otters, including special teams.
"This year he's one of our top six penalty kill forwards," Knoblauch said. "He's on our top power play line. Supporting his linemates offensively is something he does very well. He's very smart and can play an offensive or defensive role very well."
After finishing 22nd in the OHL scoring race last season, Raddysh is making an early season charge to lead the league in scoring in 2016-17.
