SEATTLE, Wash. — April 21, 2024 — Today, the Seattle Kraken (@SeattleKraken) announced that they have signed forward Carson Rehkopf to an entry-level contract. The three-year, two-way contract ($950,000 AAV) is set to begin next season, and he is expected to report to Seattle’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds, on an amateur tryout contract for the remainder of the season.

“We saw tremendous progress from Carson as he set multiple career highs in the OHL this season,” said Seattle Kraken General Manager Ron Francis. “We are excited for him to officially join our organization.”

Rehkopf, who stands at six-foot-three and 195 pounds, totaled 95 points (52 goals, 43 assists) in 60 regular-season games with the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), ranking ninth in the league in regular-season scoring. He set OHL career highs in goals, assists, points, game-winning goals (10) and points per game (1.58), all of which also topped his team. Rehkopf’s 16 power-play goals were tied for the most in the OHL this season and his 52 goals scored ranked second in the league. Rehkopf’s efforts this season earned him his team’s nomination for the Red Tilson Trophy, which is awarded to the OHL’s Most Outstanding Player each year, and he was named the OHL Player of the Month for October 2023. He added 11 points (six goals, five assists) in 10 playoff games, leading his team in goals and ranking third in postseason scoring.

Rehkopf has spent the last three seasons (2021-22 to 2023-24) with the Rangers, recording 187 points (100 goals, 87 assists) in 193 regular-season games and adding 23 points (12 goals, 11 assists) in 31 postseason games. A native of Barrie, Ontario, Rehkopf represented his home country at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship, totaling four points (two goals, two assists) in five games. He was originally selected by the Kraken in the second round (50th overall) of the 2023 NHL Draft.
