Teams USA and Canada last staged the Rivalry Series during the 2019-20 season, when the Americans won four of five games, including a Feb. 8 overtime finale thriller before a record crowd of 13,320 fans in Anaheim.
"We're proud to sponsor this Rivalry Series matchup at Climate Pledge Arena and showcase the highest level of women's hockey," said Trinity Parker, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Symetra. "This is another great example of the Kraken organization's commitment to growing the sport of ice hockey at all levels. We're pleased to join them in sharing the competitiveness of women's hockey with Seattle and Pacific Northwest fans."
While rivalry can be an overhyped word in sports, this one is the real deal. Canada and USA have been trading gold medals and overtime winning goals for decades. If you are curious, Canada leads in games played with 84 wins to 67 for the Americans but both countries each have plenty of gold and star players. The Nov. 20 game is a chance to see the world's best women's hockey players skating today.
"We're excited to partner with the Kraken" said Pat Kelleher, executive director of USA Hockey. "The franchise is incredibly supportive of all levels of the sport. I know fans will enjoy watching the top players in the world compete."
Notable past participants include Jessica Campbell, assistant coach of the Kraken's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate-the Coachella Valley Firebirds- who played in the 2014 series as a member of Team Canada.
Throughout the weekend before the game, there will be multiple opportunities for fans and youth hockey players to engage with the teams including open practices, meet-and-greet events and girls' skills clinics. The team will participate in a ceremonial puck drop at the Seattle Kraken home game Nov. 19. More details will be announced in the fall.
Tickets for the Nov. 20 game with a 4 p.m. puck drop start at $25 and will be available for general on-sale on Aug 10. Tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster. For more information,
