Jeff and Megan Carter Wags and Walks LA Kings

Megan and Jeff Carter are doing their part to make sure every dog in Los Angeles finds a home.
The two are heavily involved with Wags & Walks, an animal advocacy group whose mission is to decrease the number of healthy dogs euthanized at local shelters and to educate the public to remove the stigma around rescue dogs.

"There are many dogs in shelters that are there through no fault of their own," Megan said. "They may have been lost, a family may have been financially unable to care for them … the list of reasons goes on. These dogs deserve to find their forever homes."
!
Wags & Walks was founded in 2011 by Lesley Brog, the daughter of a veterinarian, who was devastated by the number of healthy animals being euthanized at LA-based shelters.
Los Angeles shelters are majorly overpopulated and according to LA Animal Services, around 1,500 healthy dogs were euthanized last year because they didn't have homes. We encourage everyone to adopt, not shop when looking for a new member of their family.
Besides, rescue dogs are all
one-of-a-kind and really, really cute

"Our team was so small when we first started saving dogs, and Megan was instrumental in helping us launch our foster program and grow our community of supporters," Brog said to
Southbay magazine
.
"Megan and Jeff have been so kind to our organization and have helped us develop a relationship with the LA Kings that ultimately led to a sponsorship."
The Kings have become involved by hosting supply drives at games, hosting a Pucks for Pups charity game and through proceeds from the annual "We Are All K-9s" player and pet calendars, which will be on sale in December.
Because, you should be able to look at these cuties every day of the year.

"The Kings have been a fantastic partner of Wags & Walks for many years now, so we wanted to honor that partnership by naming a few pups after them," Brog said.
When a litter was born just over a year ago, Wags & Walks decided to name five pups after Kings players, introducing Quickie, Kopi, Muzz, Marty and naturally, Carter. At the one year mark since their birth, Wags & Walks brought the pups together again for a reuinion, bringing the adoption experience full-circle. This is the kind of family reuinion we can get on board with.
Carter was adopted by a lucky guy by the name of Jonas. "We rescued a dog for the first time and it's been such an amazing experience," Jonas said. "To have that life companion, is a beautiful thing. We rescued her about a year ago."
"But really... she rescued us."

If you're not ready to adopt a pup, you can help by joining the Wags & Walks network of volunteers, who help with events, dog walking and transporting dogs. Or, you can become a foster by taking a dog into your home until he or she finds their "furever" home.
Wags & Walks is always looking to build their network and resources, which could include access to veterinarians, introductions to businesses, donated auction items and corporate sponsorships.
No better way to spend your time (or money) than by helping doggos.
After all, they're man's best friend.
