Wroblewski-16by9-40

On Monday, John Wroblewski was announced as the newest member of the LA Kings organization when Rob Blake named the 39-year-old Wisconsin native as the Head Coach of Ontario Reign, the Kings American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate.

Just two days later, Wroblewski was named one of the 40 members under 40 years of age that is an "important [person] who is shaping the game's future," according to Craig Custance of The Athletic.

Wroblewski spent the last four year in the Ann Arbor, coaching the U-17 and U-18 United States Development Program teams. Most notably, Wroblewski was the head coach of the 2018-2019 US U-18 Team, where he helped develop 16 NHL Entry Level Draft picks that year, in which seven went in the first round. Those players consisted of; Jack Hughes, Cole Caufield and the Kings first round selection, Alex Turcotte.

Given Wroblewski's successful history with developing young talent, the Kings hope that the new Reign head coach can develop the Kings No. 1 rated prospect pool in the NHL.

"John has a proven background in working with young players and helping them develop their game," Kings General Manager Rob Blake said. "He's a strong leader who communicates well and he'll play an important role for or our organization."

Wroblewski joins the likes of Blake Bolden (Kings Scout), Jeremy Colliton (Blackhawks Head Coach) and Kyle Dubas (Maple Leafs General Manager) on the "40 Under 40: List of Important People Shaping the Game's Future."
