Ivan Barbashev scored two goals as the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Edmonton Oilers, 6-4, in Game 1 of their best-of-seven series on Wednesday night at T-Mobile Arena. Vegas leads the series, 1-0.

HOW IT WENT DOWN
Leon Draisaitl opened the scoring for Edmonton at 3:56 of the first, but Barbashev answered 40 seconds later to knot the game at 1-1. Michael Amadio and Mark Stone scored to put Vegas ahead before Draisaitl's second of the night brought the Oilers back to within a goal with 10 seconds left in the opening period. After a scoreless second, Draisaitl completed the hat trick with a power-play goal less than two minutes into the final frame. Barbashev answered again just 1:01 later to put Vegas back on top, 4-3. Chandler Stephenson found the back of the net just 50 seconds after Barbashev as the Golden Knights regained the two-goal lead. After Draisaitl potted his fourth goal of the game, Jack Eichel buried an empty-net marker to give the Golden Knights the 6-4 victory.
