Hockey Is For Everyone uses the game of hockey - and the League's global influence - to drive positive social change and foster more inclusive communities.

As part of this league-wide initiative, the San Jose Sharks host various events throughout the season which celebrate inclusion in sports, including girls, those with disabilities, special needs, low income, and LGBTQ hockey.

SHARKS PRIDE NIGHT

The Sharks Community team was proud to host the 3rd annual Pride Scrimmage at SAP Center last month. Team Trans, S.F. Earthquakes and Team Teal, formed by members of the Sharks front office, played in a round robin on the ice. Special guests, Jonathan Becher, Michael Mulcahy, and S.J. Sharkie joined us for the evening with Sharks alumnus Scott Hannan jumping in to coach our visiting teams. During the celebratory night, the Queer Chorus of San Francisco performed, and each participating team received a Pride Jersey autographed by the 2024-25 San Jose Sharks. Following the completion of the Pride Scrimmage, the San Jose Sharks returned to the tank the next night for Pride Night, complete with a pride themed beanie giveaway, and Kieran Flaherty of the S.F. Earthquakes dropped the ceremonial puck during the game.

Women of Teal

Recognizing the many women who work at Sharks Sports & Entertainment and celebrating their successes and accomplishments as women in both business and sports.

On March 9th, the Sharks hosted their annual Women of Teal Night presented by Kaiser Permanente to celebrate Gender Equality Month. The day was kicked off with two girls hockey clinics at Tech CU Arena where girls in the Jr. Sharks girls hockey programming were able to learn from two-time Olympic silver medalist, Megan Bozek.

Before the game, the Sharks hosted a Women in Sports panel that included Megan Bozek, Ryann Thomison (sports nutritionist), Dr. Caitlin Rugg (Barracuda team doctor), and moderated by Tara Slone.

Throughout the game, fans could bid on specialty Women of Teal jerseys with crest and patch designed by Berni Prado a digital artist and photographer who grew up in San Jose. Additional Women of Teal activations included a puck drop from Megan Bozek, Jr. Sharks girls’ youth hockey players standing on the blueline with the Sharks starting lineup, and a video highlighting the work of the women who operate the Sharks photography and videography teams.
