ARLINGTON, Va. -The Washington Capitals will hold a pre-game ceremony on Feb. 5 against Los Angeles to honor Alex Ovechkin for recording his 1,000th NHL point. During the ceremony, Ovechkin will receive a special gift from the organization and the National Hockey League.

Capitals owner Ted Leonsis, president Dick Patrick and NHL senior vice president Jim Gregory will join Ovechkin's parents, Mikhail and Tatyana, and wife Nastya Shubskaya, on the ice to honor Ovechkin.

All fans in attendance on Sunday will receive an #Ovech1Kin cutout. Printed on the back of each cutout will be an exclusive Snapchat Snapcode that will allow fans to unlock a commemorative #Ovech1Kin Snapchat geofilter. Fans not attending Sunday's ceremony can unlock the Snapcode by following the Capitals' official social media accounts.
Upon scanning the Snapcode, the filter will stay on the users' device for one hour, although users can scan as many times as they'd like throughout the week. The #Ovech1Kin Snapcode geofilter will be available from Sunday, February 5 to Sunday, February 12.
Ovechkin earned his 1,000th career point in his 880th NHL game on Jan. 11 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, becoming the second-fastest active player to reach 1,000 points (Jaromir Jagr: 763 games) and the 24th-fastest player to record 1,000 points in NHL history. In addition, he is the 37th player in NHL history to record 1,000 points with one franchise and his 545 career goals are the second-most through a player's first 1,000 points (Brett Hull: 560) in NHL history.

Ovechkin has earned 1,013 points (550 goals, 463 assists) in 890 career games with the Capitals. He ranks first in franchise history in points, goals, power-play goals (205), shots (4,425), game-winning goals (94), overtime goals (19), power-play points (394), multi-goal games (111) and multi-point games (291). In addition, he ranks second in assists and fourth in games played. Ovechkin was drafted by Washington in the first round, first overall, in the 2004 NHL Draft.

Ovechkin ranks tied for first in NHL history in overtime goals, tied for 10th in game-winning goals, tied for 14th in power-play goals, 15th in shots and 27th in goals. He has been selected to eight NHL All-Star Games and has won the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy six times, the Hart Trophy three times, the Ted Lindsay/Lester B. Pearson Award three times, the Art Ross Trophy once, the Hart Trophy once and the Calder Memorial Trophy once.
