CHICAGO – Jake Evans scored twice and added an assist to power the Canadiens to a 4-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center on Friday.
Evans opened the scoring by completing a perfect passing play with Kirby Dach and Owen Beck before striking again on the penalty kill with a perfectly placed shot.
Later in the period, Evans turned playmaker, setting up Kaiden Guhle for his first goal of the season to give Montreal a two-goal cushion.
Mike Matheson added an empty-netter to make it 4-1, and that’s how this one would end.
Jacob Fowler was sharp between the pipes, turning aside 20 shots to help the Canadiens secure the victory.
