The Colorado Avalanche will face the Calgary Flames for the first time in the postseason when the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs begin next week.

The Flames obtained the top seed in the Western Conference after recording 107 points and a 50-24-7 mark through 81 games. Calgary finishes the campaign on Saturday against the Edmonton Oilers.
The Dallas Stars secured the first wild-card spot in the West on Saturday night with a 3-0 against the Minnesota Wild. With the Stars earning a point, it locked the Avs into the second wild-card position in the conference.
Needing one point to guarantee a playoff spot, Colorado rallied from a 2-0 deficit to force overtime and clinch a berth to the NHL's second season on Thursday night at Pepsi Center. Erik Johnson scored in the extra frame, and Philipp Grubauer made 34 saves to improve to 7-0-2 in his last nine starts with the victory.
