Cheer on Stars alums for a great cause

On Feb. 23 against the Carolina Hurricanes, the Stars will host Hockey Day in Texas. The team will celebrate and recognize the success of hockey in the Metroplex and across the Lone Star State. Following the Saturday afternoon contest vs. Carolina, fans are encouraged to attend the annual Boxx Modular Dallas Stars Alumni Game, hosted by the Dallas Stars Alumni Association.

The game will begin at approximately 7 p.m. following the Stars game against the Hurricanes. Any ticket to the afternoon game against Carolina serves as admission to the Alumni Game.

Former Dallas Stars players including goaltender Ed Belfour, forward Vernon Fiddler, goaltender Marty Turco, forward Bob Bassen and forward Ales Hemsky will participate in the contest. A final roster for the game will be announced at a later date.

Proceeds from this year's Alumni Game will benefit Texas Brahmas Coach Casey Smith. Lockheed Martin, the Harris Family and the O'Connor Family serve as supporting sponsors for the annual affair.

Prior to the Stars game against Carolina, Stars Alumni will help sell tickets to the 50/50 Raffle presented by Moxie's Grill and Bar. Additionally, game-worn jerseys from the game will be auctioned for charity on Auctions.NHL.com.

Over the last five years, the DSAA has raised over $100,000 in support of local hockey players through the annual game. Made up of former Dallas Stars and local NHL alumni, the DSAA uses hockey as a vehicle to serve the local community. As ambassadors of the sport, DSAA members act as role models, support charitable initiatives, and promote the growth of hockey throughout the Texas region.
