Hockey should be for everyone. The Sharks Foundation works to remove barriers so people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities can engage with the game—whether trying it for the first time, building skills, or finding community through play. By creating more opportunities to participate, we open the door for more people to experience the joy and growth hockey provides.

Roosevelt Rink

In partnership with the NHL, SAP and the City of San Jose, the Sharks Foundation refurbished an outdoor rink at Roosevelt Park in the heart of downtown San Jose, as a legacy project to commemorate the 2019 All-Star Game. The Sharks Foundation donated $500,000 for much needed upgrades, making the development the second largest contribution in the Foundation's history. Construction included a new, all-weather floor conducive for both street and roller hockey, ADA accessible bleachers, dasher boards and chain link fencing. Funds provided the rink with new street hockey equipment and gear, as well as covered expenses for new and existing hockey programming and camps. The revitalized space will increase access to the game of hockey year-round, providing a safe, active environment for community members.
