The Sharks Foundation's Young Professionals Board (YPB) is made up of individuals (21 years of age or older) with less than four years of professional experience who are passionate about being active and philanthropic members of their community. Participation in the YPB allows its members to gain hands-on experience working side by side with the Sharks Foundation. The Young Professionals Board is dedicated to supporting the Sharks Foundation's efforts to enhance the lives of youth and families in the community through engagement in Sharks Foundation activities, programs and events.
Members must attend all board meetings which take place the first Thursday of every month. Members are expected to execute the "Five-Hole Goal" program which includes:
Additionally, each member is expected to commit a minimum of 5 hours of service per month by contributing to the following activities: Overseeing the Foundation Booth and in-game auctions on game days, selling Mystery Pucks or assisting with Street Rally beer booths, auction item solicitation for Foundation signature events, community appearances, volunteer opportunities and more.
The Sharks Foundation promotes full and equal participation for the YPB and is inclusive of professionals of varying gender, national origin, racial and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientation and gender identity, and with disabilities. We recognize that our strength and success is due in large part to the diversity that our leadership brings and we are committed to continuing to increase the diversity of our membership and to assure that the YPB reflects the community it serves.
The 22-23 application for new members is closed. Please check back here in July when the cycle will open for next season. The interview and selection process will be completed by the end of August. Each YPB member's term runs from September through June/July, depending on when the hockey season officially ends. There is an automatic two-term commitment when being accepted to the board with the option to transition to an alumni or ambassador role beyond the two terms.
