'Yotes Notes: Hanzal Extends Goal Streak to 3 Games

Center Martin Hanzal extended his goal-scoring streak to three games on Tuesday night in Arizona's 5-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place.
Hanzal scored his 14th goal of the season from the top of the right circle at 3:33 of the second period off a nice cross-ice pass by Max Domi. The goal came just 11 seconds after Edmonton had taken a 2-1 lead.

With 27 games left in the campaign, Hanzal is just two goals shy of tying his career-high for goals in a season (16) set in 2010-11.
In addition to his goal, Hanzal delivered three hits, blocked three shots and won 12 of 17 face-offs.
Meanwhile, Domi's assist stretched his point streak to four games. Oliver Ekman-Larsson also notched an assist to bump his point streak to four games.
• The Coyotes led, 1-0, after 20 minutes thanks to a goal by forward Josh Jooris, but they committed three penalties within the first 10 minutes of the second period and the momentum changed.
"We took some tough penalties, and from there it kind of slipped away from us," defenseman Alex Goligoski said. "We had a good first (period) and couldn't follow it up."

Head Coach Dave Tippett spoke with harsher words.
"We took penalties and our puck play was just red-rotten," Tippett said. "...It's one thing for them to push. It's another for us to put the push on a platter. That's what we did."
• Backup goalie Louis Domingue had little to say to reporters after giving up five goals on 33 shots in his first game since Jan. 19.
"Honestly guys, I've got no answer for you," Domingue said. "I play once a month. It wasn't good enough. So I have zero answers for the rest of your questions."
Tippett also had just a few words to describe Domingue's performance.
"Very average," Tippett said. "(It was) a good challenge for him, and not so good."
• Trailing, 3-2, late in the second period, the Coyotes went on a 5-on-3 power play for 94 seconds. They did not produce a shot on goal.
"Our 5-on-3 didn't execute very well," Tippett said. "There's a couple situations that we tried to run on it, and we had too many people on their own page out there. We didn't execute. We didn't get it done."

• Defensemen Michael Stone missed most of the second period after getting checked into the boards by Oilers forward Drake Caggiula. Stone left the ice and then the bench after the hit, but he returned before the period ended. Forward Ryan White also spent time in the dressing room in the second period after getting crunched into the boards by Oilers defenseman Eric Gryba. White returned to the game after the second intermission.
• Playing in his 500th NHL game, forward Jamie McGinn skated 14:24, took one shot and delivered two hits.
• Rookie Lawson Crouse missed a second consecutive game because of a lower-body injury. Crouse remained in Arizona for the first two games of the team's current road trip, but he could re-join the team in Los Angeles for Thursday's game.
• The Coyotes on Wednesday will travel from Edmonton to Los Angeles, where they will end this three-game trip on Thursday night.
