PHILADELPHIA -- Taylor Hall and the New Jersey Devils each made a comeback in a 5-4 shootout win against the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday.

Hall scored twice despite missing most of the second period after taking a hard hit on his first goal, and the Devils rallied from down 4-2 to end a four-game losing streak.

"That's how we want to play, we want to play until the very end," Hall said. "Lately, things haven't been going our way, it seems like. We haven't gotten the bounces we wanted to. Got to fight through that during your season, and tonight was a good example of that."
Drew Stafford, New Jersey's second shooter, beat goaltender Michal Neuvirth over his glove for the only goal in the tiebreaker. Keith Kinkaid stopped Philadelphia's Jakub Voracek in the top of the third round to clinch the win.
Nico Hischier had a goal and an assist for the Devils. Kinkaid made 31 saves.
Claude Giroux had a goal and an assist, and Shayne Gostisbehere had two assists for the Flyers, who lost for the first time in five games. Neuvirth made 32 saves.
Neuvirth started his second consecutive game after the Flyers announced goaltender Brian Elliott will be out 5-6 weeks after having core muscle surgery Tuesday.
Philadelphia (28-19-10, 66 points) is two points behind the second-place Pittsburgh Penguins in the Metropolitan Division and two points ahead of New Jersey (28-20-8), which has the first wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference.
Hall scored his second goal with 1:21 remaining in the third period and Kinkaid pulled for an extra attacker to tie the game 4-4. He carried the puck out of the right corner and threw it into traffic in front of the net. Hischier's shot from in front was stopped, but Hall, who had skated behind the net, came out from the other side and scored.
"Was just looking for chaos in front," Hall said. "Sometimes that can go the other way, it goes on their tape and they put it in our net. Just worked our way. Probably the first time I can remember that we've come back in the last minute or so and tied a game. That's huge."
Hall scored at 4:06 of the second period to tie it 1-1, but after releasing the shot, Flyers defenseman Radko Gudas checked him.

"My back went into the boards and my head snapped back and hit the boards pretty hard," Hall said. "Came in the room, went through the concussion protocol and was deemed fit to play. Felt good in the third period and overtime."
New Jersey coach John Hynes said the Devils got a lift when Hall joined them to start the third period.
"It's great for him and our team, the investment level he's had, his ability to impact the game the right way and play the right way is fantastic," he said. "Like we've always said, to have a driven, motivated extremely coachable, invested Taylor Hall is exciting for our organization."
Hall has 23 points (11 goals, 12 assists) during a personal 15-game point streak, interrupted by three games because of a thumb injury.
"Give him the puck, and when he's got it and going, get out of his way," linemate Kyle Palmieri said. "He's a dynamic player and one of the fastest and most agile skaters in the League."
Giroux gave the Flyers a 4-2 lead at 15:59 of the second period, but the Devils got within 4-3 10 seconds later when Hischier finished a 2-on-1 with Jesper Bratt at 16:09.

"It's definitely frustrating," Giroux said. "They're a team that's in the race with us. It's two points we could have used."
Travis Konecny gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead 1:54 into the game, beating Kinkaid with a wrist shot off the rush.
After Hall tied it, Scott Laughton put Philadelphia ahead 2-1 at 4:49 of the second, and Gudas made it 3-1 at 10:36.
Defenseman John Moore scored a power-play goal at 13:17 to cut the Flyers lead to 3-2.

They said it

"At the end of the day, especially this time of year, and I've never really been through a playoff race, you want to contribute to wins. That's what I'm looking forward to here." -- Devils forward Taylor Hall
"You give up the tying goal in the last minute, minute and a half of a hockey game, we're not happy with that, but the effort was good. Certainly, there were times in the game where we didn't execute quite as well as I'd like to see, but in terms of effort and work ethic was pretty good." -- Flyers coach Dave Hakstol
