Gagne ignites the orange Game 6

Simon Gagne – always a pro at hyping up Philadelphia Flyers fans – did so once again before Wednesday’s crucial matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The former Flyers forward “ignited the orange” before Game 6 of the Eastern Conference First Round at Xfinity Mobile Arena, joined by team mascot Gritty, of course.

Gagne made a name for himself as a high scoring forward with the Flyers, recording 47 and 41 goals respectively in the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons.

Perhaps his most notable goal came in Game 7 of the 2010 Eastern Conference Second Round against the Boston Bruins, where Gagne scored the game winner to push the Flyers to the Eastern Conference Final. Philadelphia went on to beat the Montreal Canadiens in the conference final before falling to the Chicago Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Final.

The Flyers drafted Gagne in the first round of the 1998 NHL Draft, and the forward spent the first 10 seasons of his career in Philadelphia. After stints with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Los Angeles Kings (where he won the Stanley Cup in 2012), Gagne came back to Philadelphia for another season.

Twice during his career, he was named the Flyers MVP.
