MacKinnon returns to Game 7 for Avalanche against Sharks

Forward left briefly after apparent injury in first period

SAN JOSE -- Nathan MacKinnon has returned to Game 7 of the Western Conference Second Round in the first period Wednesday.

The Colorado Avalanche forward left for the locker room 2:18 into the period against the San Jose Sharks after he lost his balance and fell into the boards at 1:44. He skated off the ice favoring his right arm but returned to the bench with 5:37 remaining.

MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen lead Colorado, each with 13 points. It was tied for second in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, one behind Logan Couture of the Sharks.

The winner will play the St. Louis Blues in the Western Conference Final.
