Defenseman assessed $5,000 for incident involving Vancouver forward Sutter

NEW YORK -- Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Ian Cole has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for a dangerous trip against Vancouver Canucks forward Brandon Sutter during NHL Game No. 1208 in Vancouver on Saturday, March 31, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 8:10 of the second period. Cole was assessed a minor penalty for tripping.
The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
