Gustl Kopitar is one of the NHL's most famous dogs, and his jump onto the hockey landscape truly started during his father Anze's day with the Stanley Cup in 2014.
After Anze boosted the Los Angeles Kings to their second championship in three seasons, the Kopitar men enjoyed breakfast from their own Cups, with Anze eating cereal from the real trophy and Gustl eating his food from a mini version at their home in Slovenia.
Gustl, a Goldendoodle whose name means "Goofball" in Slovenian according to Kopitar. He has more than 2,300 fans on Facebook, 7,000 followers on an unofficial Twitter account that has been in operation since October 2014. He even had his own bobblehead giveaway and attended a game at Staples Center in 2017.
The image has become one of the most famous from a player's day with the Cup, and Anze's relationship with Gustl shows us once again how strong the bond between dogs and humans can be.
